Ramadan is the most blessed month in the Islamic calendar. It is the month when the Holy Quran was revealed to our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Allah says in the Quran about the immense blessings and rewards of this sacred month.
"The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran"
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained." This beautiful hadith shows us that Ramadan is a time when it becomes easier to do good deeds and stay away from sins!
Ramadan is a special time when duas (prayers) are more likely to be accepted by Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said that three prayers are never rejected: the prayer of a fasting person, the prayer of a father, and the prayer of a traveler. Make lots of sincere duas during this blessed month, especially at the time of breaking your fast!
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the most generous person, and he was even more generous during Ramadan. Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه said: "The Prophet was more generous than a swift wind during Ramadan." Teaching our children to be generous and give charity during this month follows the beautiful Sunnah of our Prophet ﷺ.
Among all the nights of Ramadan, there is one special night that is better than a thousand months - Laylatul Qadr (The Night of Decree). Allah tells us in the Quran that worship on this one night is better than worshipping for over 83 years! SubhanAllah!

Taraweeh prayers are special voluntary night prayers performed during Ramadan. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever prays during the nights of Ramadan with faith and hoping for Allah's reward, will have all his previous sins forgiven." Encourage your children to join you for at least some of these blessed prayers!
Ramadan is the month of the Quran! Angel Jibreel would come to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ every night in Ramadan to review the Quran with him. Make it a family goal to complete reading the Quran at least once during this blessed month. Even if children cannot read Arabic yet, they can listen to beautiful recitations and learn the meanings.
Fasting is not just about staying away from food and drink. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and evil actions, Allah is not in need of their leaving off food and drink." Ramadan is a training ground for developing patience, self-control, honesty, kindness, and beautiful Islamic manners (Akhlaq).
